Evolutionary Developmental Psychopathology: the 2001 thesis
About the thesis
Ian Pitchford's doctoral thesis, Evolutionary Developmental Psychopathology, was submitted to the University of Sheffield in September 2001. It asks how psychiatric classification, the development of mental capacities and their evolutionary history bear on one another, and argues that explanations of psychopathology need all three.
The thesis was examined early in 2002 by Professor Patrick Bateson FRS of the University of Cambridge and Professor Paul Gilbert. The degree was conferred on 24 July 2002.
